Duplex Coated Board

Duplex board, also known as duplex paper or duplex cardboard, is a type of multi-layered paperboard that consists of two to four layers or plies. It is designed to provide enhanced strength, stiffness, and durability compared to single-ply paperboard.

The construction of duplex board typically involves bonding together two to four layers of paper during the manufacturing process. The outer layers, commonly referred to as the “liners,” are made from bleached or unbleached chemical pulp, while the middle layer, known as the “fluting,” is typically made from recycled paper or pulp.

The liners of duplex board are usually coated with a thin layer of clay or other materials to enhance the surface smoothness, printability, and moisture resistance. This coating also helps improve the board’s ability to withstand bending and folding without cracking or delamination.

Duplex board finds extensive use in packaging and printing industries. It is commonly employed for manufacturing folding cartons, rigid boxes, book covers, displays, and various types of packaging materials. The strength and rigidity of duplex board make it ideal for protecting and preserving the contents of packaged goods during storage, transportation, and handling.

Additionally, duplex board offers excellent printability, allowing for high-quality graphics, images, and text to be applied to its surface. This makes it a preferred choice for packaging that requires attractive designs and branding elements.

Furthermore, duplex board is often favored for its recyclability. It can be easily recycled and used in the production of other paper products, reducing the environmental impact and promoting sustainability.
